How custom embroidery works

From your logo to a finished, stitched item. Here is what happens at each stage, and why we review your artwork and your item before anything goes on the machine.

The process

Seven stages

  1. 1Send your artworkYour logo or design in the best version you have.
  2. 2We review itWe check the design, the item and the placement you want.
  3. 3DigitizingThe design is converted into stitch instructions for the embroidery machine.
  4. 4Placement and sizeLocation, dimensions and thread colours are confirmed with you.
  5. 5ApprovalYou approve the specification before anything is stitched.
  6. 6EmbroideryYour items are embroidered to the approved specification.
  7. 7Finished itemsChecked, packed and arranged for delivery or collection.

1. Artwork

You send your logo, crest, name or design with your quote request, along with the items, quantities and where you would like it. The best original you have is the most useful, ideally a vector file. See the file guidelines.

2. Review

A person looks at your artwork and your item together: the detail in the design, the size you want, the fabric and construction of the garment, and whether the area you have chosen can be reached and stitched. If something will not work as described, we tell you and suggest an alternative.

3. Digitizing

An embroidery machine does not stitch from an image. Your artwork is converted into a stitch file that tells the machine where each stitch goes, in what direction and in what order, suited to the design, the material and the finished size.

Artwork prepared for printing is not automatically ready for embroidery. Very fine lines, small text, gradients and photographic detail often need simplifying so they stitch cleanly. Any digitizing cost is included in the written quote for your project.

4. Placement and size

We confirm where the design goes on each item and how large it will be. Common placements include left chest, right chest, sleeve, cap front, side and back, and upper back; what is possible depends on the item.

5. Approval

Before production you confirm the details: items, quantities, placements, sizes, thread colours and any personalization. Nothing is stitched until you approve.

6. Embroidery

Your items are hooped and stitched using the approved stitch file and settings.

7. Finished item

Items are checked, trimmed and prepared for pickup or shipping. Timing and delivery are confirmed with your quote, based on your project.

What affects whether an item can be embroidered

  • Fabric type and weight
  • Seams, pockets, zips and closures near the area
  • Lining, insulation or padding
  • Whether the area can be reached inside the item
  • The size and detail of your design

What goes into a quote

Every quote is written for your project. It depends on the item, the quantity, the size and complexity of the design, the number of locations, digitizing and any personalization. We do not publish a fixed price list.

Questions

What can you embroider?

Suitable garments, workwear, headwear and textile accessories: shirts, polos, hoodies, jackets, caps, beanies, bags, aprons and similar items. Whether a specific item suits embroidery depends on its fabric, construction and the area you want stitched, so we confirm that for your item before production.

Can you embroider something I already own?

Possibly. We review customer-supplied items case by case and cannot confirm we can work on one until we have seen the details. Tell us about it in your quote request, ideally with a photo.

How much does embroidery cost?

There is no fixed price list. Cost depends on the item, the quantity, the size and complexity of the design, how many locations you want, digitizing and any personalization. Send us your details and we will reply with a written quote.

What is digitizing?

An embroidery machine does not stitch from an image file. Your artwork is converted into stitch instructions that tell the machine where and how to stitch, suited to the design, the material and the size. Artwork made for printing is not automatically ready for embroidery.

What artwork should I send?

The best original you have, ideally vector (AI, EPS, SVG or PDF). A high-resolution PNG is also helpful. We will tell you if anything needs simplifying for embroidery.

Is there a minimum order?

We have not published a minimum. We confirm what is practical for your item and design when we quote.

Ready to talk about your embroidery?

Tell us the items, the artwork and where you want it. A person reviews every request.
