Preparing your artwork for embroidery

What to send so we can review your design quickly and tell you how it will stitch.

Upload your artwork with a quote request

Files we accept

  • Vector (preferred): AI, EPS, SVG, or PDF saved from a vector program
  • Raster: PNG or JPG, as large and clear as you have

Up to 5 files per request, each up to 25 MB. Your files are stored privately and are only used to review and prepare your embroidery.

Send the original

The best file is usually the one your designer delivered, not a screenshot, a logo copied from a website or a photo of a printed sign. If a clean original is not available, send what you have and we will tell you what can be done with it.

Why embroidery is different from print

Embroidery is built from thread, not ink, so a design is converted into stitches through digitizing. Some things that print well need adjusting to stitch well:

  • Very small text and fine lines
  • Gradients, shadows and soft fades
  • Photographic or highly detailed artwork
  • Many colours packed into a small area

How much detail works depends on the final size, the fabric and the design itself. We review this for your project and tell you if anything needs simplifying, rather than applying one fixed rule.

Helpful details to include

  • Thread colour references, or brand colours (for example Pantone references, if you have them)
  • The approximate finished size you have in mind
  • Where each design goes on each item
  • Any names or text for personalization, spelled exactly as they should appear

Photos of your item

If you want us to embroider an item you already have, or you are not sure an item suits embroidery, include a photo of the item and the area you want stitched, plus the product name or a link if you have it. This helps us check the fabric and construction.

Customer-supplied items are reviewed case by case and cannot be confirmed until we have seen the details.
